Finding meaning and emotion in street photography

This talk or course will help you discover three key ingredients to making superbly engaging street photographs: Creative, Meaning and Emotion.

During this lecture you will discover street photography is not a venue but an approach to photography and by developing an understanding of the three key ingredients your image making will lift to a much higher level.

An emotive street image created by Stewart Wall in London, August 2019

When I took the image of ‘the man with the women in a mask’ I turned the corner and instinctively brought my camera to eye level and pressed the shutter whilst still talking to a friend. By becoming in rhythm, intuitively with the street and your surroundings images seem to just come to you. the key is to understand the ‘music of the street’, which we cover during this in-person or online lecture or extended workshop.

Street Photography Workshop Attendee Feedback

“Just to say thank you for the great day I had on our club Walkabout day with yourself in Grimsby.  I found your introduction in the morning most interesting and encouraging to get out there and have a go”…. Janina

“I would just like say what a really enjoyable day you put on for us all” Mike

“I found your pre-talk highly informative and feedback given to the other participants was very constructive.

I think the amount of time given for shooting was about right and given the weather, we were incredibly lucky.

Group sizes were spot on as we were all able to take a variety of shots, with each member of each group having similar shots but often with a different interpretation” Jo
