With over forty years of experience, my first job in photography as an apprentice press photographer taught me to love the art of cameracraft and capturing decisive moments of life, often as projects and photo-essays. I loved seeing my work published in local and national newspapers .
Today, after retraining I am a qualified teacher having completed a Degree in Photography and Graphic Design, a Masters in Visual Communication (Photography) and then a Level 7 PGCE in Lifelong Learning between 2015 and 2020. My business now centres on teaching others the skills I learnt as a professional
Between 2012 and 2024 I also worked with the Royal Photographic Society running one of their regions and being on their Distinctions Committee. During that period I wrote the criteria for their new Photobooks Distinctions Genre and chaired it for the first two years. I also chaired and assessed their Licentiate Distinction for many years. They awarded me their Fenton Medal and made me an Honoury Life Member for my contributions
I still enjoy creating photography as a social documentary and landscape photographer, where I continue to focus on documenting decisive moments of life, whether in vibrant streets, tranquil countryside, or along rugged coastlines. I then publish the moments as photo-essays in photobooks as an archive of our times. I love the idea that future generations might look at the books.
