Park Hill Streets in The Sky was opened in 1961, the year I was born and was designed to home 3000 people in the 1000 social housing flats. Over the years manufacturing industries who needed human workers moved to other countries or automated and the utopian hopes for it’s community shattered.
I visited for the first time in 2015 and in the PhotoArt Zine there are 48 images showing the whole experience.
Park Hill was opened in 1961 to house families needed by local manufacturing businesses
today many of those industries have moved to new countries
and the area is being gentrified for new social classes
the wide 'street' on which children played has been narrowed
and a new high speed train service is being planned
Anna showed me around in 2015, she loves her life living in Brutalist Architecture
