Stewart has been a professional photographer since 1978 when he trained as a press photographer on a local newspaper before working for Fleet Street dailies. He has a BA (hons) in Photography, an MA in Photography and a Level 7 PGCE in teaching photography. He has worked with the Royal Photographic Society for over ten years and created the criteria and chaired the Photobook Distinction Assessments for the genre’s first two years. He is also a Chair of the Licentiate Distinction. In 2021 the Royal Photographic Society awarded him the Fenton Medal and made him a life member for his contribution to the society.
Under Stewart’s mentorship, and via Future Heritage Photo-Excursions, Courses and Workshops you will learn how to make more engaging and creative photography and photo-books and learn how to get more from your camera equipment. Previous students have gone on to gain RPS Licentiate, Associate and Fellowship distinctions and academic degrees. Others have simply increased their enjoyment of photography.
