Social Documentary Photo Book Workshop at The Fitties: Friday September 1st 2022
THE WORKSHOP
Friday September 1st 2022: 10am – 4pm
This is an unique opportunity to be part of a Future Heritage Professional Photo/Editorial team for the day as they create a feature photo book about the People of The Humberston Fitties.
We have been invited to set up the editorial department in Ms Teakle’s Fittie (image above) for the day where the workshop will take place. You will be taken on guided assignments to gather images for the book. There will be ample opportunities for you to take your own images too.
We will be taking images in both Ms Teakle’s Fittie and visiting other residents in theirs too. You will be able to get some amazing portfolio images as well as being invited to have your images included in the book.
The workshop will teach you many skills of the social documentary photographer, including:
- Developing your concept/the story you are telling
- How to engage with the subjects of the story you are telling
- The camera skills, including how press photographers use portable flash, that help to visually communicate the story you are telling
- How to create photo essays as chapters of a photo book
- How to go about creating a photo book
Past attendees on these days have gone on to make their own photo books, win competitions and gain distinctions as well as do well at universities on degree courses.
After the workshop you will be invited to submit work for inclusion in the photo book and your workshop fee will include a free copy for all contributors.
