A Great Day Out Enjoying Photography

Ginko Photo-Haiku Portishead
March 22nd 2024 10am – 4pm

Portishead Marina is steeped in maritime heritage, with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Originally a bustling dock, it played a vital role in the shipping industry, supporting trade and commerce. Today, its heritage echoes through preserved structures, telling the story of Portishead’s maritime past and cultural significance. When we visit on March 22nd the workshop leader, professional photographer Stewart Wall will guide you and the other attendees in how to create series of mini photo-essays using photo-haiku to tell the story of Portishead today.

Photo-Haiku, as a photographic approach helps workshop attendees see in a different way, and create more powerful images. Past attendees report they have found the approach enjoyable and often return for more. During the workshop each attendee is given a copy of ‘The Master Guide to Creating Project and Photo-Haiku’ Photography’ which is used throughout the workshop. The guide is kept by the attendees

Photograph above shows attendees from the October 2023 Bath Workshop using the ‘Master Guide to Creating Project Photography’ that is supplied to all workshop attendees so they can create their own record of the day

Attendees of the workshop are invited to create photography in the way they wish to, but the workshop will have a concept to help attendees work towards creating a powerful project.  Stewart’s ‘Master Guide to Creating Project Photography’ has proven so popular with previous attendees as a guide to working towards a concept. The guide has been rewritten for 2024. You can see the 2023 master guide being used in the photograph above.

Ginko Portishead Project Photo-book

After the event, all attendees will also be invited to have images in the Ginko Photobook from the workshop and will receive a complimentary copy in the post once it is created. These books are a marvellous momento of the workshop day, and prove a great learning aid as you will be able to see what your peers created on the same day of the same thing as yourself.

An added workshop bonus

Two of the attendees at the Bath Workshop stop for a chat and a break. We have regular breaks during the day, and the walking is at a gentle pace

An added bonus is that you will often meet and make new photography friends during the workshop.

Portishead Marina : A Great Place to Make Photography

Throughout the day there will be some amazing opportunities to make some superb photography at Portishead Marina. Places on the workshop are limited so please book early.
