On yesterday’s journal entry I wrote we were heading off to Mablethorpe for New Year’s day, and then we switched to Barton Upon Humber and the Water’s Edge Country Park, which I had been intending to visit later this week to start creating assets for the photobook workshops I am teaching this month and into February.
Whilst Jessica and Jay set off for a fast walk, Shona and I meandered around with our cameras, Shona using her mobile phone, and the Ricoh GRIII diary for myself. I am finding using the Ricoh liberating for some reason, and the 28mm (full frame equiv.) lens forcing a different type of approach to making a set of images. I am really enjoying using it.
I have selected just over 60 images from this first visit and uploaded them to a flickr album (click here to see it)
and then from these I will select 24 to use alongside text to make a photobook during this coming Saturday’s photobook workshop.
You can see details of the workshops by clicking here
Throughout January I am running a number of online photobook courses that cover the whole process from creating a way of making photography for a photobook, how a photobook is different to an album of photographs, to designing a photobook using Affinity Publisher. Most of the courses are fully booked, but there are a couple of spaces available on the February date.

It was the first trip of the year, and it was a blast. As I drove to Clumber from home, the skies were blue, then grey, then rainy, and then blue with a rainbow. I felt unsettled,…

Back in 2012, a significant shift occurred in my photography journey as I bid farewell to the substantial Nikon D3 system, embracing the much more compact Olympus EM5 along with its diminutive lenses—a notable departure from the bulkier Nikon counterparts. Over the years, the lenses on my Olympus setup have grown in size with wider…
